Troubleshooting Connectivity and Running Diagnostics on the CropX App
Troubleshooting Connectivity and Running Diagnostics on the CropX App
How to Use CropX's IntelliCheck Troubleshooting Tool
CropX's IntelliCheck is a self-guided troubleshooting tool built into the CropX mobile app that helps you diagnose and resolve sensor issues right in the field — no support call required.
This video will show you how to use the tool:
Step-By-Step instructions:
Getting Started
Open the CropX mobile app and navigate to the Sensor tab.
Find the sensor you want to troubleshoot and tap the three-dot menu on it.
Select Troubleshoot from the list of actions.
What Happens Next
Once launched, IntelliCheck uses your phone's Bluetooth to connect to the sensor and automatically runs through a diagnostic checklist:
Connectivity — Can the app connect to the sensor?
Readings — Is the sensor able to take measurements?
Battery — Is the battery at an acceptable level?
Cellular strength — Is the sensor transmitting properly?
Reading the Report
After the check completes, IntelliCheck generates a report with its findings. For example, if the sensor is detecting unusually low volumetric water content (VWC) values, the tool will flag this as a poor soil contact issue — meaning the sensor likely needs to be reinserted into the soil.
The report also displays the last transmission time and last measurement time. For SDI-12 devices like the CropX Telemetry unit, it's important that these two times align. If they don't, it may indicate a connection issue between the probe and the telemetry device.
Other Common Issues
Bluetooth connection error — If IntelliCheck can't connect to the sensor via Bluetooth, it will prompt you to check the sensor's power. A dead or low battery is the most common cause.
Fix & Verify
Once you've addressed the issue (such as reinserting the sensor), you can run IntelliCheck again to confirm that your fix worked. The tool is designed to walk you through each step until the problem is resolved.
