Unpacking the CropX Telemetry
Unpack the unit, inspect for any damage
Attach the antenna magnetic base to the top of the metal bracket and attach to it the antenna ‘whip’ (stowed for shipping)
General Overview of the CropX Telemetry
POWER: The unit comes powered on automatically. There is no ON/OFF switch. Once the sensors are connected, go to the CropX mobile app and use the installation process to activate the setup.
BATTERY VOLTAGE: Measure on the outer two pins. Operating voltage is 4.2V full (100%), down to 3.4V empty (0%).
NOTE: Antenna and solar panel connector come pre-assembled out of the box.
CropX Telemetry Mounting Options
It is important to have the unit fully charged before starting the season. To fully charge it, connect it to USB adapter with wall outlet power until the charging LED blinks (at least 12 hour charging time).
The CropX Telemetry can be mounted on a T-post (as shown) or any other type of post with a diameter 1 1⁄2” or less.
Holes and Slots are available in two locations on the CropX Telemetry bracket that allow the installer to use any combination of U-bolts, Hose Clamps, or Large Zip Ties to attach the unit to a post.
Wiring a Rainbucket
Wiring a Rainbucket:
Connect the Red wire from the Rainbucket to the terminal marked as RAIN as shown.
Connect the Green wire from the Rainbucket to the terminal marked as GND as shown.
Wiring the SDI-12 Sentek Drill & Drop Probe
Wiring the SDI-12 Sentek Drill & Drop Soil Moisture Probe:
Connect the Red wire from the probe to the terminal marked as PWR as shown.
Connect the Green wire from the probe to the terminal marked as GND as shown.
Connect the White wire from the probe to the terminal marked as SDI as shown.
NOTE: Only SDI-12 probe communication is compatible with the CropX Telemetry today.
Wiring the AquaCheck Probe
Wiring the SDI-12 AquaCheck Soil Moisture Probe:
Connect the Brown wire from the probe to the terminal marked as PWR as shown.
Connect the Yellow/Green stripe wire from the probe to the terminal marked as GND as shown.
Connect the Blue wire from the probe to the terminal marked as SDI as shown.
NOTE: Only SDI-12 probe communication is compatible with the CropX Telemetry today.
