It is important to make sure the telemetry units and probes are removed prior to harvest so that the combines and other harvest equipment will not damage them.
The probe should be easy to locate and you should be able to explain how to find it to someone. Utilizing the system below, you should be able to locate the probe fairly easily. Marking probes can be done in several ways, as shown below. For finding the probes at the end of the year, you can use the system below or design your own.
The Garmin Montana GPS locator or a similar device is a good idea. The Garmin we're looking at here is the Montana 650T. This system works well as a direction device to get you to the field and then it marks your field entry points and also the actual probe location points when you get to the field. It also features a camera, so you can keep track of unit numbers, growth stages, soil property anomalies, etc. If you use this with the image and instructions below, you will have great success placing and removing your probes.
